  18.         We use Kermit 3.14 very heavily on our campus. From DOS everything
  19. works great. From MS-Windows, however, sometimes it works but often our
  20. users will get a message similar to either of these below:
  21.  
  22.         "unknown hardware for port, using..."
  23.  
  24.                       - or -
  25.  
  26.         "cannot use RTS/CTS on non-UART ports"
  27.  
  28. Please note...
  29.  
  30. 1) the same script will work fine when run under DOS without these
  31.    messages.
  32.  
  33. 2) we are running Kermit via the .PIF file provided with the software
  34.    (unmodified).
  35.  
  36. 3) I cannot personally reproduce the above but several of our users
  37.    now have come to me with the same problem (so I can no longer dismiss
  38.    them as nuts!).
